Discover the story behind Songea German Friendship Society — a journey of friendship, research, and sustainable development across Tanzania.
Songea German Friendship Society (SGFS) is a charitable, non‑governmental, non‑political, and non‑religious organization based in Songea and Dodoma, Tanzania. Founded in 1997 through personal friendships between people from Songea and Germany, we began official operations in 2000.
Our mission is to conduct research for sustainable development in rural Tanzania, running projects in bakery and natural food production, secondary education, block farming, and vocational training for youth.
In 2019, we were honored by the German Ambassador Dr. Detlef Waechter during his official visit to Songea, Peramiho, and Mbinga Mharule village.
Guided by a clear purpose to bridge cultures and foster sustainable growth.
